ARCTOS is a multi-institution, multi-collection museum database. It stems from an ongoing effort to integrate access to specimen data, collection-management tools, and external resources on the Web. Nearly all that is known about a specimen can be included in ARCTOS, and, except for some data encumbered for proprietary reasons, data are open to the public.

Data from the ARCTOS database is shared with other data repositories, such as the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF). This network allows species distribution records to be viewed graphically.

As the Nematomorpha Biodiversity Survey project grows, we will continue to add all of our collection data into this publically-available database, allowing our data to be available in a timly manner to the scientific community and the general public.
